Women Paving the Way

Thursday, March 23, 2023 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Location:

The meeting was live streamed on YouTube. You can find all past meetings at the Interstate Bridge Replacement Program YouTube channel.

In 1872, the chief engineer overseeing construction of the Brooklyn Bridge fell ill. His wife, Emily Roebling, managed the project on her husband’s behalf for 11 years until it opened to the public. Women have been an integral part of making bridges, roads, and highways happen since its earliest days, and in honor of Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating how they keep things moving.

“Women Paving the Way”, an IBR roundtable discussion was held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 23. Panelists included women leaders in transportation and infrastructure who addressed how they navigate challenges and contribute to what has been traditionally considered a male-dominated field.

This event took place virtually via Zoom and was livestreamed on the IBR program’s YouTube channel.  Panelist discussion was followed by a Q&A session, with questions provided by participating equity-priority community members.
